Our client is an independent family owned company located in West Bromwich in the West Midlands. Founded in 1869, they are one of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers of speciality organic chemicals. They offer a wide range of custom manufactured intermediates on a commercial scale from kilograms to multi-tonnes, all produced to the highest possible quality and environmental standards.

They are now looking to recruit an Assistant Shipping Manager to join their Customer Services department.

As part of your routine duties, you will be involved in customer liaison, contract review, despatch, invoicing, letters of credit and supplier declarations. Tactful but determined, part of your role will be to assist in credit control and interface with their Production and Logistics department. You may also be required to assist in exhibition organisation, data research for sales support and customer complaints.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in an export shipping (manufacture) role at supervisory / management level. Highly literate and numerate, you will have the ability to move from routine work to one off assignments and be capable to deal with periods of peak pressure.

They would expect the ideal candidate to hold a HNC / HND in Business Studies or similar and have a sound working knowledge of IMDG and ADR regulations, with the ability to act as an advisor on these matters. A formal IATA qualification would also be desirable.
