| Overview A children's residential home deputy manager is required to work in a children's residential unit based in Sandwell. Reporting to the home manager, you will be responsible for the staff team you will also be required to assist the manager in the overall management of the home This is a permanent, full time contract. Main duties In your role as a residential home deputy manager within children's services, you will assist the manager in the management of the home as a whole, including the staff, the budget, the resources and fabric of the building and the welfare of the children and young people. To deputise for the manager in their absence. The successful residential home deputy manager will also: *Have sound understanding of Child Protection and Health and Safety issues. *Have Previous experience in a similar setting *Have excellent communication skills. *Restraint training would be advantageous *Hold a current enhanced CRB document that contains no information deeming you unsuitable for social care work. *Be able to provide at least two satisfactory references, *Provide evidence of eligibility to work in the U.K. Key skills *To promote the normal development of the children and young people *To protect children and young people and to ensure that the home environment is appropriate and sensitive to their needs. *To ensure that key stages in the stay of children such as admission and discharge are properly managed and reflect decisions recorded in care plans *To ensure children are offered support where required *To participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of individual children's care plans *To develop and maintain good working relationships with parents and other family members where appropriate, social workers, school staff and other professionals with a concern for the children's needs, such as general practitioners or psychologists *To provide leadership, guidance and management to the other staff *To be involved in the recruitment, monitoring, supervision, appraisal and disciplining of staff as necessary *To maintain good communication systems, including handovers, log books and staff meetings *To actively monitor performance and attendance of all staff in the home *To Manage the finances of the home as needed. *To Manage the resources of the home *To ensure professional standards are maintained at all times.
