| Overview A waking night residential social worker is required to work in a childrens residential unit based in Sandwell. Reporting to the home manager, you will be responsible as a member of the staff team for the direct care of children and young people. This is a permanent, full time contract. Main duties In your role as waking night Residential social worker within children's services, you will be responsible for: *Direct work with the residents - that is providing support and generally taking an active part in their daily lives whilst on shift. *Contact and dialogue with Social Services personnel and outside agencies who have an involvement in the project, or interest in its residents. *General - that is taking responsibility for the welfare of the home with regard to health and safety and primary care issues, as well as making autonomous decisions about individual resident's requests and behaviour whilst on shift. *Administrative work and record keeping associated with the daily running of the home and household duties as appropriate. The successful Residential Social Worker will also: *Have sound understanding of Child Protection and Health and Safety issues. *Have Previous experience in a similar setting *Have excellent communication skills. *Restraint training would be advantageous *Hold a current enhanced CRB document that contains no information deeming you unsuitable for social care work. *Be able to provide at least two satisfactory references, *Provide evidence of eligibility to work in the U.K. Key skills *Provide a safe and supportive environment within the home for children and young people. *Contribute to the normal development of young people through the provision of a healthy lifestyle, a variety of appropriate stimulating activities and group holidays and a consistent and caring adult role model. *Talk with and listen to young people, be alert to signs of distress or abuse and ensure young people are monitored and protected. *Contribute to assessment and care planning as appropriate and participate in reviews and other meetings as required and to assist in the implementation of care plans. *Maintain contact with children and young people's families where appropriate. *Support residents in achieving their planned objectives and individual goals. *Be sensitive to needs of the residents, taking account of race, culture, language, religion, sexual orientation or disability. *Assist residents in moving into independent accommodation by preparatory work during their residence. *Provide for young people's physical needs as necessary, by cooking, washing, ironing, shopping, budgeting and by enabling young people to carry out such tasks for themselves to assist them in developing the skills needed for independent living. *Have a current enhanced CRB document that contains no information deeming you unsuitable for social care work. *have evidence of eligibility to work in the U.K *be able to provide at least two satisfactory references Capita Social Care and Housing is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy. |
