Responsibility:
Reporting to the Planning Manager you will be expected to offer total support in a varied and challenging environment. This role will require you to interpret manufacturing demands using a MRP computerised system, ensure orders are placed in a correct lead time and delivered on-time.
You will be required to manage a supplier base ensuring production lines are continually fed without stoppages due to parts missing from kits. In the event of non-delivery, you would report through to the Planning Manager and propose methods to improve supplier delivery. You would also ensure the system is correct to ensure administration queries do not occur.
Duties
• Review MRP reports automatically creating purchase orders / schedules to be e-mailed or faxed to suppliers.
• Review acknowledgements from suppliers ensuring deliveries are on-time.
• Warn Production of any delays ensuring product can be re-planned and customers are pre-warned of delays.
• Review outstanding orders to ensure stock levels are reduced.
• Discuss level changes with department to also reduce stock.
• Review purchase orders that are due to ensure on-time delivery will be achieved.
• Review overdue orders hourly, if necessary, with suppliers.
• Update Production Stoppage Report with relevant information. Report back to Planning Manager with issues.
• Interrogate supplier recovery plans to ensure consistent supply.
• Refer any supplier price increases back to Buyer to re-negotiate.
Personal Skills
Communication with the planning and production managers within the Clients organisation will be of critical importance. A strong relationship will need to be developed between yourself and the Planning Manager. You will need to demonstrate an ability to deal calmly with the expected problems which come with such a position.
You will need to have excellent computer skills, with a good level of competency on Word & Excel. You must be focused on the goal of achieving uninterrupted supply to the production lines.
You may be required to visit suppliers to address issues of supply or take an active part in meetings or reviews.
Salary Offered
Salary: £17,000 - £20,000 (dependent on experience)
Annual Leave: 20 days per annum plus all statutory UK bank holidays
(4 days to be taken between Christmas and New Year)
