    Our client a Local authority in East Lincolnshire are seeking to appoint a Derelict Property officer to work in their strategic Housing department in Grimsby.

    This contract is for a minimum of 6 months with the view to further extension

    The purpose of the Property Officer is to bring derelict Commercial Property back into use through the implementation and further development of the Councils derelict property Stategy action plan.

    You will also be required to Survey property, asses conditions and availability of assistance, maintain waiting list, compile schedules of work and to give advise and guidance on all aspects of the service.

    To update, monitor and review the progress of the Derelict Property Strategy.
    To identify and obtain information on derelict properties within the Borough and to devise a robust Derelict Property Database accordingly.
    To seek and implement innovative and creative solutions to bring Derelict properties back into use.
    To organise awareness of the derelict property issues and any initiatives through appropriate promotional materials, publicity and education.
    To be aware of and access funding opportunities in order to maximise financial resources available to enable properties to be brought back into use

    To provide advice, assistance and information to owners of derelict properties for bringing them back into use.
    To deal with complaints/enquiries concerning derelict properties in the Borough and where necessary, refer them to the appropriate officer/organisation.
    Prepare detailed schedules of work to remedy defects in full compliance with current legislation, Council policy and eligibility for assistance.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Specialised knowledge is required in Quantity Surveying, Renovation and Building Technology, legislative requirements covering The Law of Property, Environmental Protection and, Landlord & Tenant Contractual Requirements. HNC in Building or equivalent and IT skills including competent use of Microsoft applications are desirable.
