| Responding to our members’ calls, you’ll get them back on the road quickly and safely by providing first class vehicle diagnosis using state-of-the-art technology. Out on the road, in all weathers and locations, you’ll have plenty of variety. You could be doing a straightforward job, like sorting out flat batteries or wheel changes. Or you could be called out replace an alternator or radiator. Fixing problems as well as cars, you should be able to think on your feet and keep calm, making motorists feel reassured. Whatever you’re doing, you’ll have the satisfaction of helping people out in an emergency – and they’ll always be pleased to see you. You’ll need a City & Guilds part 1 and 2 in motor-vehicle-craft studies or an equivalent NVQ Level 3, or at least three years’ experience in motor-vehicle repair or five years in engineering. This will have given you an in-depth, practical knowledge of the mechanical and electrical workings of a wide range of motor vehicles. It’s essential that you have excellent driving skills; with no more than five points on your driving licence, and are able to work flexibly. You’ll be expected to work evening, weekend and bank holiday shifts, and be on standby for some additional hours each month. In return, you’ll have a industry leading salary package, including pension and other benefits which includes free AA membership and many discounts. We’ll also give you your own, fully equipped van. You’ll feel like you’re working for yourself, but with all the support and security of a regular job.
