Job Description
Senior Immigration Caseworker LSC Level 2 Birmingham
Salary c£25k nego on qualifications and experience
My client is an established firm specialising in immigration matters covering human rights, immigration and asylum law and have a reputation for excellence with a new 3 year LSC contract.
They are seeking a full time caseworker with a strong asylum and human rights background with relevant recent experience
Experience of undertaking legal aid work
Some experience of High Court and/or Court of Appeal work Strong background in appeals work, specifically asylum appeals; advocacy experience would be a strong advantage
An ability to manage a large and fast moving caseload, often dealing with urgent deadlines and assisting other fee earners with urgent work
Experience of working with the points based tier system, nationality, EEA residence permits, entry clearance and in country applications outside the rules Adept and skilled at all levels from instruction to decision, through appeals to the Tribunal, both First and Upper Tiers for Asylum, humanitarian protection and human rights work
Asylum, humanitarian protection and human rights work will require you to be adept and Practised in challenging determinations on grounds of error of law and skilled in identifying points of principle. To conduct claims for judicial review from inception to renewal through to full hearing and appeal Preventing removal by emergency application and in the processing of funding applications
Skills, Abilities & Qualifications Required
The nature of the work requires the applicant to have the following skills and abilities:
level 2 LSC accreditation (essential)
Experience of advice giving and casework (essential) Excellent advocacy and drafting skills (essential)
Ability to communicate complex legal issues in a clear and succinct manner
Ability to provide accurate and concise telephone advice Computer literacy including familiarity with computerised case management systems
