Our Client manufactures a wide range of engine and vehicle dynamometer test solutions for the automotive and aerospace industries. As a specialist supplier in End-Of-Line and Research and Development test systems tier dynamometers are recognised for their technical excellence and reliability around the world.
Their headquarters is located in Worcester, UK and is supported with operations in Germany, China and the United States.
Due to increased success in their market our Client has an opportunity for an experienced project Commissioning Engineer with PLC software expertise to work in this manufacturer supplying major blue chips. The position will be based at the company's head office but the role will require travel to sites in the UK and abroad (pool car provided).
You will have responsibility for implementing your part of the project (i.e. write software for PLC's / control systems and subsequent commissioning) within the quoted and agreed cost targets and timescale to the customer's requirements.
This encompasses overall accountability for running this stage of the project so in addition to the hands on duties below some project exposure is desirable as you will be required to conduct preparations for onsite i.e. inform the customer, co-ordinate with the installation company, commissioning control systems or parts of them independently, providing information as to the design and equipment in terms of drawings, function descriptions, software listings, technical data sheets, etc.
Key accountabilities will include:
Initially preparing for commissioning i.e. collating all information, tools and materials for commissioning, carrying out virus check, to establish time schedule, to arrange transport in conjunction with fleet supervisor, etc.
Where required, inspect the installation (panels, cabling, etc.) and arrange for the installation company to complete the outstanding points, adjust peripheral equipment, commission peripheral equipment & motors and power outlets, modify panels, test all inputs, outputs, communication links and network links, load and start up application software through to testing.
Training of customer’s staff on safe operation of equipment.
The position will suit an experienced commissioning Engineer with PLC programming / software experience. This will ideally be Allen Bradley / PLC / SCADA however this is not essential and other controls systems equally considered.
Likely to suit individuals with a background as (but not limited to) commissioning Engineer, Multi skilled Engineer, Project Engineer, PLC Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Site Commissioning Engineer or similar.
